Participation in clinical trials at Ashford Cancer Centre commenced in January 1998. The Medical Oncologists and one Haematologist are committed to implementing the most up-to-date treatment options available to manage a patient's disease and improve their quality of life.  Our philosophy is to have good quality rather than quantity trials and we are proud of our work in this area.

Trial administration is performed by experienced Study Co-ordinators, and patients are treated in the day centre where the most recent techniques are employed by the highly experienced oncology nursing team.

Whilst many trials we participate in are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, Ashford Cancer Centre belongs to several national bodies involved in clinical trials. These are the ANZ Breast Cancer Trials Group (ANZBCTG), the Australian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG) and the ANZ Gynaecology/Oncology Group (ANZGOG) and the European Organisation for Research & Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).

We are able to offer trials for a variety of different cancers, as well as treatments to improve patient well-being whilst undergoing conventional treatment. Your treating doctor will notify you if they believe that you may be eligible for any of the trials being conducted at Ashford Cancer Centre.
